Our series of panels and workshops expand the conversation on the future of community media while bridging the gap between media makers and professional organizations.

    Join a gathering of Latine content creators, storytellers and creatives sharing their ideas, work, current and emerging projects. Support and network while building community with fellow practitioners.

  • Urban Environmental Stewardship & Community Voices

    This panel discussion reflects on the past, present, and future of urban environmental stewardship.

    Our panelists from Climate Leaders at Penn and FarmerJawn will explore their experience with 'media successes' and areas where greater media support is required. 

    There will be an open discussion designed to connect panelists with storytellers in the audience.

  • A Master Class on Narrative Storytelling

    This hands-on interactive session works you through the process from script to screen with local filmmaker, Aidan Guynes.

    In collaboration with Philadelphia Film Society and Youth Set the Stage, this master class is for emerging filmmakers looking to connect with fellow creatives and learn tips for working in the industry.

  • Pitching Your News Story

    Pitching a story to editors is a fundamental element for any journalistic venture. In this workshop, members of the Philadelphia Journalism Collaborative weigh in on the important elements of a successful story pitch.

    Connect with newsrooms, editors and reporters to get advice on making your pitch the best it can be!

  • Addressing Harmful Narratives in Media

    Are you interested in shifting the narrative as it relates to gun violence and impacted communities of color? This workshop explores how to frame sensitive topics into an empowering narrative.

    Tackle questions around what a holistic approach looks like; debate the role of media literacy; and learn what an informed response entails.

  • DJ Mixing 101 with Great Circles

    Dip your toes into the world of DJ mixing with Great Circles

    This session will demonstrate use of basic elements and principles for DJing using digital equipment!

    You will observe a live set from a professional DJ and walk away with lessons to get started on your own mixes at home!

  • Bridging the Gap: Media Makers & Local Activists

    In partnership with Leeway Foundation, this session bridges the gap between media makers and social justice organizations. 

    This session and networking event is designed for artists and activist organizations looking to connect. We will review case studies, discuss partnership needs, and help set you up to build successful partnerships!

  • "Where Do I Start?" An Introduction to Preserving Your Media

    Led by People’s Media Record, this workshop will lead you through the essential questions when beginning to think about the long-term care of your media. 

    This workshop features a presentation, hands-on activities, and small group work to help guide you towards your needs and goals when it comes to preserving your media!
